The Huntington Library

As part of the exhibition A Strange and Fearful Interest: Death, Mourning and Memory in the American Civil War commemorating the 150th anniversary of the war the Huntington Library commissioned special materials to demonstrate and interpret the making on nineteenth century photographs in the field - In the Usual Manner. A series of ambrotypes as well as a short film by Kate Lain document the procedure.
